Every household in Barre was mailed a 2015 census form.  If you have already returned your form THANK YOU, if you have not yet returned your form please do so now.   If you did not receive a form or need a duplicate form please contact the Town Clerk’s Office immediately at 978-355-2504 ext 5 and we will get you a new form or check your status.  Every person in every household needs to be accounted for in order to have an accurate resident/census listing.  This affects the towns population figure which in turn has some important effects on the community as a whole such as grant funding, school projections, emergency response, veterans benefits and also establishes an individual’s residency just to name a few.  Establishing your residency is especially important if you ever find you need proof of your (or one of your family members) residency, such as for college students attending a state school who needs to prove they are a Massachusetts resident to get the state rate or a Veteran who is applying for a welcome home bonus.  If you do not return your census, the Town Clerk’s Office CAN NOT certify you were a resident for that year (as we can’t certify something we never received )and we can’t add it after the census is finalized.  Also, in accordance with Mass General Law Chapter 51, Sec 4 - failure to respond shall result in removal from the active voting list and may result in removal from the voter registration rolls.

Your cooperation saves a lot of time, money, effort and is greatly appreciated!
