ELECTIONS
TO DROP OFF NOMINATION PAPERS OR PETITIONS
1. Call the office 978-355-2504 Ext 5 and/or email clerk@townofbarre.com to arrange for a time to drop off the Nomination papers in person.
OR
2. Mail - mail nomination papers if the deadline is not approaching (allow at least 10 days) to:

Include a pre-stamped and pre-addressed envelope so we can return a receipt for papers back to you. We advise candidates to use some sort of tracking service if they are mailing their papers so they can ensure timely delivery.
Be sure to also call 978-355-2504 ext 5 and/or email clerk@townofbarre.com stating you have mailed your papers back.
3. Drop Box - Utilize the Large Blue Secure Ballot drop, locked box located to the right of the outdoor stairs. Be sure to also call 978-355-2504 ext 5 and/or email clerk@townofbarre.com stating you have left papers in the box.
Please be sure to put them in an envelope with your contact information including your name, phone number, e-mail address and mailing address and clearly mark ATTENTION TOWN CLERK - TIME SENSATIVE - NOMINATION PAPERS ENCLOSED. A receipt will be sent to you.
WHERE DO I GO TO VOTE? - THE TOWN OF BARRE HAS TWO POLLING LOCATIONS (PRECINCTS)
PRECINCT 1 VOTERS WILL VOTE AT THE SENIOR CENTER - 557 SOUTH BARRE ROAD
PRECINCT 2 VOTERS WILL VOTE AT AMERICAN LEGION POST 2 - 450 SOUTH BARRE ROAD

VOTER REGISTRATION
The Deadline to Register to voter is 10 days prior to an election day at 5pm
The Town Clerk's office will be open from 9am to 5pm on the last day to register.

VOTING OPTIONS:
1. In person on election day at the polling locations
2. Absentee Voting (must qualify) Absentee Ballot Application
The last day and time to vote in person by Absentee Ballot 12 noon business day before election..
3. Vote By Mail (must submit application to receive a ballot)
Deadline to apply for a Vote By Mail Ballot is by 5pm the 5th business day prior to election day.
4. Accessible Voting Voters with Disabilities accessible application
5. Military or Overseas Voters Military and Overseas Voters
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
To qualify for an absentee ballot, you must:
- Be away from your city/town on Election Day; or
- Have a disability that keeps you from voting at your polling place; or
- Have a religious belief that prevents you from voting at your polling place on Election Day
- Deadline to apply for an Absentee ballot to be mailed is by 5pm five business days prior to election date
- Deadline to apply for Absentee ballot and vote in person is 12 noon the business day prior to election date
You can fill out an absentee ballot application if:
- You are a U.S. citizen residing overseas; or
- You are on active military duty; or
- You are currently incarcerated for a reason other than a felony conviction; or
- You are requesting an emergency absentee ballot due to hospitalization.

VOTERS CAN ALSO VOTE BY MAIL BY COMPLETING AND SUBMITTING A VOTE BY MAIL APPLICATION
(click on Voting by Mail link to apply or print an application). Voting by Mail
ABSENTEE AND VOTE BY MAIL BALLOTS CAN ALSO BE RETURNED IN PERSON AT THE TOWN CLERK'S OFFICE TUES/WED/THURS 9-4 OR BY PLACING THE SEALED VOTED BALLOT IN THE SECURE LARGE BLUE DROP BOX LOCATED TO THE RIGHT OF THE STAIRS OUTSIDE OF THE HENRY WOODS BUILDING LOCATED AT 40 WEST ST. THE DROP BOX WILL BE AVAILABLE 24/7 ONCE BALLOTS HAVE BEEN MAILED.
A test deck for the Election will be conducted in the Henry Woods Building, 40 West Street- basement- at Town Clerk’s Office prior to election day.
