SECRETARY OF COMMONWEALTH TO MAIL VOTE BY MAIL POST CARD APPLICATIONS TO EVERY REGISTERED VOTER BEFORE EACH STATEWIDE ELECTION
2026 VOTING BY MAIL postcards
Barre voters have the option to vote early by mail in all 2026 elections, with no excuse required.
Forty-five days before each statewide election, the Secretary of the Commonwealth will send a pre-addressed, postage pre-paid Vote by Mail application to every registered voter before each statewide election. This mailing is required by state law.
You won’t be sent an application if you’ve already applied to vote by mail for the upcoming elections.
You can use this application to request a ballot for the next statewide election, or for all elections this year. Simply mark your selections, sign the application, and drop it in the mail. For primaries only: If you are not registered in a party, you must include which party's ballot you would like to receive.
If you do not receive an application or need another application, you can download a Vote by Mail application here. If you can’t print the application, you can use any signed request to apply. Applications are also available at the Town Clerk's Office
The deadline to request a ballot for the July 28, 2026 Local Barre Election is Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 5 p.m.
The deadline to request a ballot for the September 1, 2026 State Primary is Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 5 p.m.
The deadline to request a ballot for the November 3, 2026 General Election is Tuesday, October 27, 2026 at 5 p.m.
All vote by mail ballots have been mailed for the Local Special, July 28th election.
If you requested a vote by mail ballot for the July 28th Special Local Election and have not received a ballot yet and you will not be able to appear in person on election day to cast a ballot between 12 noon and 6pm, please contact the Town Clerk's Office at 978-355-2504 ext. 5 or email clerk@townofbarre.com. In person absentee ballots are still available until 12 noon, Monday, July 27th.
