Request for Taxpayer Patience & Courtesy

Due to some recent events the Treasurer/Collector asks taxpayers to consider showing courtesy when interacting with Treasury/Collection staff. We are here to help, including sorting out errors that may from time to time arise on accounts. We are also required by law to send some of the notices that we do to taxpayers who may fall behind. We are all human and mistakes can happen, but we can rise to the challenge and fix things while keeping interactions polite and showing each other common courtesy.

So, if you feel we've made a mistake, please just kindly let us know. We will strive to either answer your questions and explain why it isn't a mistake, or if there truly is a mistake, to address it as quickly as we are allowed to under MGL and normative processes. We also ask for patience as sometimes resolving an error can require gathering documentation and therefore can take time. Remember, we want to help! The goal is to make all interactions as pleasant and pain-free as possible as we're here to serve the residents of Barre.
